SCAD Comics Art Forum Oct 22-24

Thu Oct 22, 2009, 6:10 AM
Hey all, well its been quite a while since I updated. Mostly due to a heavy work load and not feeling like I had anything profound to share I guess.

But as it turns out this week, I will be at the Savannah College of Art and Design for their Comics Art Forum! Any chance I get to come back to Savannah is a complete blast. Its always a nolstagic experience for me. I just got in yesterday and we have a panel discussion tonight with the other visiting artists. Then tomorrow and Sat. I will be doing a presentation for the students and portfolio reviews in the afternoon.

Over all it should be a fun weekend, and hopefully I can still be productive with work in my down time. If you're a student or an alumni and you have the chance, you should swing down and participate!

As for work, I've been busy with the penciling duties on my next run of GI Joe 13-17. And I've had the chance to do covers for each of the books. Thats been an interesting step in my career. Getting to do covers on a regular basis is alot of fun, obviously, but also quite challenging. But all together by the end of this month I'll have penciled and inked 20 covers for GI JOE in a little over a year.

  • Listening to: audio books
  • Reading: Starman Omnibus #1
  • Watching: Watcmen..hey get it?
  • Playing: "superheroes" with my son. Action figure
  • Eating: less junk food, and feeling better for it
  • Drinking: Less Dew, more water. I know ...blasphemy

yeah, Im trying to really get back in shape. Ive let the late nights, high stress and incessant snacking do me in for far too long. I just turned 30 and realized I need to do something quick before I really go down hill.

Okay, I just came home after the Comic Art Forum, which was really fun and quite good, and the snacking makes more sense... you often work until 3 to 4am? I would have a hard time not drinking a little Dew myself! Before I forget, if you guys (the guest panel pros) do not have any plans for dinner for Friday or Saturday night, my wife and I would love to take you out to dinner and pick your brain a little... the family aspect (your having two chillins) has really caught our attention. When I see you at the workshop, I will try to remember to bring it up again.

Hey Robert, thanks a lot for coming down to Savannah and the extra time you took to look over my stuff.

I hope you can get back down here again sometime in the near future.

I feel it on the inside
Twisting and contorting
Memory has shaped me once again
Still feel you on the inside
Biting through and stinging
Will I ever forget to remember?
